Rubys Radar and Zane Davis Win 2014 Hackamore Classic Championship

NRCHA Hackamore Classic ChampionshipsIn 1988, leading National Reined Cow Horse Association professional Zane Davis won a National High School Rodeo Championship at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo. Twenty five years later, he returned to the same venue to win the National Reined Cow Horse Association Hackamore Classic Open Championship aboard Rubys Radar (One Time Pepto x Ruby Bagonia x Peppy San Badger), owned by Billie Filippini

Davis and Rubys Radar held the high preliminary score coming into the fence work-only finals. They were last to work, a draw position that suits the 2009 Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Champion horseman just fine.

Martin Muehlstaetter Wins Open and Intermediate Open NRBC Championship on Blue Collar Tag

The largest National Reining Breeders Classic Open in history culminated on a Saturday night with the Open finals. While the field boasted many former Champions and multiple million dollar riders, new names finished at the top.

Martin Muehlstaetter wasn’t planning to show Blue Collar Tag at the NRBC; his owner, former Non Pro Champion Shaunda Rai Ruckman would be at the reins.

However, a bobble in the Non Pro prelims kept Ruckman and the 6-year-old gelding out of the finals. “Shaunda asked if I wanted to show him, and I said ‘Hell yeah!’” Muehlstaetter said.

Sherri Gilkerson Memorial: A Cow Horse Spectacular

The 8th Annual Sherri Gilkerson Memorial and Wine Country Classic put on by the Southern California Reined Cow Horse Association just finished up another fantastic event. The spring weather was perfect. Sun shined on the iconic Casner Ranch in Temcula, California. The classic horse and cattle ranch once again played host to the competition held May 16-18, 2014. Thousands of dollars of prize money were awarded over a range of classes.
