Andalusian Stallion Brioso MA Scores Historic Win at IALHA National Show

MIRA LOMA, CA – October 28, 2009 – The purebred Spanish Andalusian stallion Brioso MA set a new record for the breed October 17, 2009 at the International Andalusian & Lusitano Horse Association’s (IALHA) National Champion Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. By winning the 2009 Grand National Champion Senior Stallion title, Brioso MA captured the ‘triple crown’ for halter horses at IALHA Nationals and retired from his halter show career undefeated.

Brioso is the first and only purebred stallion to earn consecutive IALHA Grand National Champion titles from Champion Colt in 2005 to Junior Stallion in 2007 to Senior Stallion in 2009. All three victories were by unanimous decision of the judges. Brioso was trained and handled for all competitions by Warren Mather of Choice Show Horses in Simi Valley, California.

Brioso, bred and owned by Mario Contreras of Mario’s Andalusians in Mira Loma, California, is known around the Andalusian show venues as a playful character in the barn, but he clearly knows how to bring out the champion attitude in the show ring. “Brioso has been a pure delight to work with all these years,” said his trainer Warren Mather. “To have him capture the Senior Stallion title this year and leave the ring setting the breed record as undefeated at Nationals was an incredible moment for both me and his owner.”

Brioso will now stand at stud at Mario’s Andalusians.
